The Waynesboro First Aid Crew has the following membership categories that you may apply for, scroll down to learn more about each type.
- Probationary Membership
- Senior Membership
- Associate/Administrative Membership
- Junior Membership
Any person twenty-one (21) years of age or over of good character and standing shall be eligible for membership. Sixteen (16) for junior applicants.
To become a probationary member, a candidate must submit a notarized written application to the Crew, using the application form approved by the Membership Committee.
The candidate must also submit a written medical report from a physician concerning the candidate’s physical condition upon request of the Executive Committee. The candidate must also agree to a driving record check, criminal background check, and a drug-screening test.
To become an Active member, an applicant must serve as a probationary member for a period of at least six (6) months with a maximum of one (1) year.
The applicant must be voted into Active membership by secret ballot of the voting membership. A majority of votes cast is necessary to accept.
Senior members must have passed the Virginia Division of Emergency Medical Services Emergency Medical Technician program; Emergency Vehicle operations class II and hold current certifications.
Senior members are required to attend a minimum of seventy-five (75) percent of business meetings and training drills in a calendar year unless excused by the presiding Officer. Required to pull a minimum of 24 hours per month of duty time.
Senior members will have voting privileges and can hold office within the Waynesboro First Aid Crew as long as such requirements are met.
Membership of the crew will be open to anyone between the ages of sixteen (16) and twenty-one (21) years of age. Members must be of good character and moral standing.
Junior Members will meet all of the same qualifications as Senior or Associate members to be voted into membership and must meet the same training requirements.
Active members will be Juniors who are off probation and pull duty twenty-four (24) hours per month. These members will have voting privileges in Junior Crew meetings.
Junior Associate members will be required to pull twelve (12) hours of duty per month.
Junior associate members will be granted voting privileges in the Junior Crew meetings, if he or she attends seventy- five (75)% of business meetings, drills and pulls twenty-four (24) hours of duty a month.
If the applicant is under eighteen (18) years of age, his or her guardian is required to attend the interview prior to be voted on for membership.
This membership is designed for those who wish to participate in the crew in a way other than running calls.
Requirements of this membership will be to perform administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Committee including, but not limited to, assisting with preparation of reports, typing of reports, entering call sheets into the computer, assisting the Treasurer, assisting any committee with its activities, and other duties as may be assigned.
Associate/administrative members will fulfill twelve (12) hours of assignments per month.
